2010 was a very busy year for Westside Quilters Guild. In January we installed a quilt exhibit, "Winter Wonderland", at Valley Art Association in Forest Grove.
In April we designed and made all the quilts for the HART Theatre production of "Quilters" the musical. In the spring we started both daytime and evening charity quilt sew-ins. Our members kept us on track to complete the year's goal of 75 charity quilts.
After months of planning, our exhibit on quilting history, CONNECTIONS: Quilting 1930s and Today, was installed at Washington County Museum in June (which was extended through October 23rd).
In July we sponsored a lecture by Mary Bywater Cross and a documentation day for the Oregon Quilt Project along with holding our first quilt turning.

Included in our Education Committee's activities were teaching quilting at Vernonia High School, along with activities at Washington County Museum Family Days, Hillsboro's Saturday Market, Showtime at Shute, and the Forest Grove Farmers Market.
Our Lady of Peace fall retreat |
A group of 20 quilters enjoyed a beautiful fall weekend at our September retreat. There were prizes, games and a couple of short "mini" classes while we enjoyed working at our own pace on our own projects.
Candid sewing |
To begin October, we helped make a quilt featuring historic North Plains sites, and local industry with the help of several North Plains children. This was presented to the city's mayor at the opening ceremonies of the North Plains Centennial celebration.
We recently were added to the Oregon Cultural Trust list of arts organizations eligible for the Trust's matching funds program.
