The Children of Lir |
This slide show captured a brief history of Celtic art, which spans several centuries starring from BC to the 7th century AD, as well as showcasing Philomena's quilts and the origin of her inspiration.
As part of this event, Philomena's quilts were displayed at the library as its February art exhibit. One of her large quilts, a bias applique Rose Window, made by Philomena and quilted by Mary Bertken, held pride of place over the check out counter. This quilt was exhibited in Germany in 1999 as part of the "Quilts in Bloom" art exhibit.
