Philomena is Coming to the North Plains Library

Westside Quilters Guild member, Philomena Durcan, was part of the Washington County Library System's One Book One Community event this year.

During the months of February and March Philomena's Celtic Applique quilts will be the art exhibit at the North Plains Public Library.

On February 22nd Philomena presented a lecture and slide show at the North Plains Community Library entitled, The Celts and Their Art.  The slide show captured a brief history of Celtic Art, which spans several centuries starting BC and up to the 7th century AD.  The slide show included many of her quilts to illustrate the inspiration for Celtic applique quilts.

Also as part of the One Book One Community events, the quilt on display over the circulation desk at the library for the month of February will be a bias applique Rose Window, made by Philomena. This quilt was exhibited in Germany at the Quilts In Bloom Art Exhibit in 1999.
