BOM for June, 2018 Meeting

We have a fun BOM for June!  If you would like to participate, make a block and bring it to the June meeting.  Find the BOM table in the break room and add your block to the pile.  For each block you bring, you get one entry in the drawing.  At the end of the evening, a name will be drawn and that lucky quilter gets to take the whole pile home.

Quarter Log Cabin Block

Quarter Log Cabin Quilt Tutorial (check the website for complete instructions).  This easy block will make a 7 inch block – you might want to make a couple.  It makes a stunning scrappy quilt! Challenge yourself to make a scrappy block with bold fabrics!

Fabrics:

Select 4 different prints (modern, bold prints if you have them),any colors– and a white solid or tonal for final strip
Cut Two - 2.5" x 4.5" rectangles (from different fabrics)
One - 2.5" x 6.5" rectangles (from same fabric)
Two 2.5" squares (from different fabrics)
One white strip 1.5" x 6.5"
One white strip 1.5" x 7.5"
Sew together like a Log Cabin Block:
  1. Sew 2.5" squares together and press,
  2. Sew 2.5"x 4.5" rectangle to above
  3. Sew one of the 2.5" rectangle to left and the 2.5"x 6.5" to bottom
  4. Add the white strips, one 1.5" x 6.5" and the other 1.5" x 7.5" to the above strips.
  5. Trim down to 7 inches to square up edges
There will be a complete handout available at the April meeting with instructional pictures.  Try the tutorial on the link above.
