Guild Meeting- May, 2018- Joyce Dean Gieszler- Getting Your UFO's Under Control!

May, 2018  Joyce Gieszler, Getting your UFO's Under Control

How fortunate we are in the Westside Quilters' Guild to have Joyce Gieszler as a member and friend!  We enjoyed every minute of her entertaining program on how to get control of our UFO's (unfinished objects) and finish them, change them, or give them away!  Her trunk show of examples kept us oooo-ing and ahhhhh-ing  all evening.  Thank you, Joyce!

 Joyce Geiszler

Joyce's life-long love affair with sewing began when she was four years old. She told her mother she knew why the sewing machine was called a Singer – because it hummed! She took sewing in home economics, but didn't really begin to love sewing clothes until she was in her early 20s. She began her sewing career tailoring men's suits in the Portland, Oregon, area. After a move to Waco, Texas, and finding a quilt shop inside of a converted carriage house, she was hooked!

Joyce has been teaching quilting for 18 years and designing quilt patterns for 13. She began teaching by volunteering at a local alternative school and teaching teen moms to make quilts for their babies.

Joyce has authored two books and created dozens of patterns.  The members of WQG anticipate Joyce's Mystery Quilt classes each fall. For our May guild meeting, Joyce will present a humorous program on how to take control of that UFO pile.  What a great way to begin our annual UFO challenge!
